Description The following is from my "Lions Project", something I started for myself back in 1992. It was drawn in a lined sketchbook on purpose, because there are writings (bad ones, by me *laughs*) that accompany the pieces. I'm uploading it and three others from the project here by request. Plus, it's a good example of the sort of projects I like to do for myself that involve symbolism, mythology, stylization, and, of course, lions.

********

This is my version of everybody's favorite Sekhmet. Guess why I find her fascinating! I'd wanted to try my hand at hieroglyphics and more "traditional" ancient Egyptian art, and this is my own version; of course, I'm certain there are errors now, but it was fun then. The hieroglyphics say something like "guardian" and "she is as furious as a lioness and contented as a cat" - though again, I'd do more research before re-doing this (and probably use Adobe Illustrator to do it in nice, crisp lines).

Critique not desired because this is from 1992!!! If I re-do it I will change some things.

Micron pen on lined paper. 1992.

Ooooh, I love this!  I'm very partial to Sekhmet and am quite shocked at how little modern art there is depicting Her.  This would make a marvelous print!  I can also appreciate the amount of research this must have required, considering that the (public) Web was still in its infancy in '92, and so this might have required a few trips to the library.

As a side note, I must say I found it somewhat exciting to happen upon an artist on dA would was even alive in '92, let alone already well established in her skill.

uh, is that the one that was murdered in Egyptian pantheology. I know in that ancient religion the egyptians had claims to how a certain god and 2 goddesses died, but I don't remember it at all.

Nooo, I meant... my own >.o I'd do my own original hieroglyphics and markings to draw in something. I wouldn't use actual Egyption hieroglyphics. But thanks for the links!

Weee Egyptian stuff!! you know I'm really amazed at how little people draw Sekhmet! Anubis and Horus are everyones favorites for some reason, but truly, Sekhmet I believe is the most fascinating! along with several others.

As old as it is sweets I still have to say that it blows me away!
