Mommy? Why can't I fly like everyone else? Is it because I was bad?No Pit, it wasn't. You're a good boy.
Then why is mommy crying? I don't like it when mommy cries.

Pit's inability to fly is a big part of his character, yet it was never really explained.
I always assumed he was just born with deformed wings or something.
And btw, I see Palutena as a parent/elder sibling type of character to Pit more than anything else. Which is the reason why I don't like it when they're paired up
Well, this turned out quite nicely (for me at least). It's a whole lot better than my last digital painting. And it took less time too (the last one was two days, this one only four hours), well THAT could have been because GIMP didn't crash on me a bazillion and one times again XD.

I forget what is called but when some birds come around to the time when they shed their baby feathers and grow their adult ones, sometimes the baby feathers don't fall out or the they fall out and the adult feathers aren't able to grow. Either way, the bird isn't able to fly. I think Pit was born like this. Lots of things support this theory, the fact that Palutena sometimes comments on Pit's wings going bald, Pit losing his feathers when Palutena beams him up, and you can see that Pit loses feathers constantly in air battle.Β
This is most likely the reason he can't fly and I can see why other reasons could come into view (Pits wings haven't matured yet) but Pit's losing a LOT of feathers and the right ones aren't growing, which is possibly why he can not fly.Β

That's a pretty elaborate and sound theory! I never thought of that, but I did have a ton of theories back around the time I drew this. None of them were as scientific as yours though hahaha

I personally believe that in a past life he was Icarus so he didn't have the ability to fly as an angel? I don't know this sounded better in my head honestly

OMG SOOOO Cute! Its pretty depressing we never find out why he can't fly on his own though. Wish they'd tell us. Maybe its because he's such a young angel he can't fly yet or maybe he failed his flying test

Yeah I really wish that they would give us some background info on his character D8. Especially on such a huge part of him that affects game play.
It could be those reasons I suppose, but I personally disagree. I mean, Pit IS 25+ years old (then again he does have the body of a thirteen year old), and I don't think you need a permit to fly when the world's balance is at stake. And even if you're not very good at flying, at least you can manage it on your own right? It was also state by Palutena that Pit's wings "don't work right" so I assumed that Pit's wings are crippled or something. But there is no right answer, because the reason was never openly stated

I also came up with the idea that something drastically scared him and it flew and maybe thats why he can't fly! I mean logical thinking right. Or maybe the thought of fighting Hades made him forget

But if Pit was fearful of flying things, why would he sound so confident when he was flying himself? It's possible that he could have hidden his fear very well, but his darker counterpart (who came from a mirror that reflected the truth) doesn't have a problem with it either >.>
And Pit has been unable to fly since his debuting game that came out about 20 or so years ago, and he doesn't seem to recognize Hades when he appears... Well! Those are just my thoughts on the matter, yours could be right

Palutena actually explained that his wings just doesn't work right when Hades asked Pit why he couldn't fly.^^ ( random bonus conversation in the game)

And actually, she never explained WHY they don't work properly. I mean, it's not like they're on backwards right? So yeah, I assumed that his wing muscles are just too weak to carry his weight or something

I figured it was because he wasn't old enough and his wings are too small. Cuz if you look at the herons from Fire Emblem Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, their wings are bigger proportionally than Pit's.
But there's also the Pokemon Dragonite with wings that are way too small. That defies explanation!

Well when you analyze Pit's life time, (woah, I have no life) you see that he is actually decades, if not centuries, older than what he looks to be (since he still has the body of a young teen in Uprising which takes place twenty five years after the last events if his previous games). So it can't be because he is too young. I just assumed his wings were deformed from birth and that Palutena for some reason can't fix them

I personally say he's a shiz ton older than what he appears to be, since it was just stated he was thirteen in HUMAN years. *Puts up hands* Well that's just my opinion, I'm not saying yours is wrong or anything, since it can work both ways and all.

Not on his own. Pit can't fly unless Palutena or some other god gives him the Power of Flight or if he acquires an item that allows flight in previous games ( Pit needs the Wings of Icarus to truly fly in SSBB as well) And that Power of Flight only lasts for around five minutes, or his wings burn off. I just find it strange that his flight plays a rather large role in the story but is never explained.

Yeah it could be those reasons. But still, it kinda bothers me that Pit doesn't really have much of a background. I mean, people could interpret it, but I still wish that the creators had allowed tiny bit of info. I mean, since he talks so much during gameplay, I figured that maybe the producers would have given us a bit of history behind his attitude :/

Well, layers are exactly what they are named. What you draw on one layer won't interfere with another (unless you merge them). The best way to really learn about them is to test them out I guess

Haha I think I'm the wrong person to go to for artistic help (I'm still learning myself after all) but...
1. It's okay to concentrate on one thing for a bit to get a good grip on it. However, don't stay on it forever. Start drawing other things to get some variety into your work. It's really a self motivation thing. Because it's your artwork and it's your choice whether or not you want to shift your drawing interests.
2. I usually start out with a rough sketch to see what the positions could be. Making adjustments when needed.
3. Sorry, can't really help you here. Lot's of practice got me to where I am right now (actually I still need more of it). Other artists on DA might be able to help you though.
