Description I've been wanting to make a paper collage like this for a long time.

Made with various papers and embellished with thread, gold leaf, various pens/pencils, glitter and feathers on the eye lashes.

How do you get those nice shadows? When I glue my things down they tend to look very flat. Do you use a special kind of paper? This is really beautiful and I'd really appreciate your advice.

I actually stick pieces of foam/card in between certain layers to give it more of a 3D effect, hence the shadows. Here is a close-up of the head. Hopefully, in that picture you'll see the layers a bit more! I think experimenting with different textures and materials is another good way to not make collages look so flat. I hope this advice helps!

Thank you very much! It took a few evenings - I made the top half of her body very easily but the rest of the collage, was very much trial and error, I made several versions of her skirt before settling on this one.

This is beautiful! The depht impression works really nicely and the details, like the Eiffel tower in the background and her pretty glittery lashes are just lovely to look at!

Yeah, there are small details drawn or sewn on (the thread on the back of the corset) but it is mostly made with many layers of paper.
