Thank you man! I really like the coloration on this one too, even though it's improbable to have been like this.

Nice job I like that sauropod of the EK world.

Thank you! Euhelopus is among the coolest looking early Cretaceous sauropods.

Euhelopus material has been founbd in the Yixian formation, hasn't it? Or at least partially referrable?

Well, I didn't know anything about this, but after quick google search it seems that there are some basal titanosauriform's teeth from the Yixian formation which could be refered to cf. Euhelopus sp. That's all I found. [link] and [link] . Though I don't know if bunch of teeth are really that much diagnostic on genus level.

Gorgeous work! Euhelopus is one of my favorite sauropods, and the colors are pretty cool too (I'd probably go with more of a gray camo pattern for Euhelopus, but this scheme is amazing!)

The only suggestion I'd make is with the feet, they are a bit long. The metatarsals of sauropods are neither long nor splayed flat. Other than that, it's perfect; I prefer Greg Paul's more vertical necked version, but the 45 degree neck still looks very believable the way you painted it.

Thank you very much! I always appreciate your comments and constructive criticism, especially when I know how good you're at drawing sauropods. BTW, I used Paul's skeletal as reference. Seeing my comments on your work you may figure out why I drew the neck in that way.

Apparently you are working a lot with sauropods. Some special project?

Sort of. I'm planing to do something like short digital book about the sauropods. It would be separated in two parts, one describing their evolution, why they got so big, did they live in heards, physiology etc., and the other would be an encyclopedia with facts about certain species. It probably would take few years to finish this project but I'll take my time. I want to have my own website someday in future and this book would be downloadable. My plans to the moment include only version on my language but if it turns out well then I could try to translate it to English. Knowing how bad my English is this would be mission impossible. Anyway, my main goal in future is to popularize the dinosaurs because they are unknown or very little is known about them in my country (usually people imagine dinosaurs they way dino paleontoligsts imagined then in pre-Dino reneissance age) and pretty much all bulgarian dino or paleo related sites sucks.

I got a list with reconstructions that I have to draw for this little project of my, but think to show it next time I update of my journal which will be probably in two or three weeks.

This is really amazing! Especially with the species you are portraying here. Congratulations. And good luck!

Beautiful. By the way, that's the neck posture that seems more natural to me.

Thanks man!

I agree with you. The posture of the neck in the skeletal I used for reference was almost vertical. I don't think it looked that way.

Yeah, it does look a little bit like giraffa.

Rather fitting for a dinsoaur that is the analog of a Girafe, isn't it?

T-PEKC In reply to MugenSeiRyuu [2009-10-17 16:57:32 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it looks very good and fits well for an illustration but in my opinion it's higly unlikely any dinosaur to have had such coloration.

very good, though the neck looks a tad too long.

T-PEKC In reply to ZombieSaurian [2009-10-17 14:31:15 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!

Well, the animal had pretty long neck actually. Atleast that's the impression I got from the reference that I used. Anyway, I often draw sauropod's necks longer than there were, so there is big chance for you to be rigth about this.
