Beautiful use of colour and pattern! So often in birds the head is the focal point of the plumage, so the bright coloured head seems very ecologically plausible in terms of display - a lovely piece!

I saw plenty of Plateosaurus Fossils and Models in Stuttgart. Any yep, that fits well and is pretty close how to how the paleontologiest there reconstructed it.
The colorscheme is somehow familiar.

It's good to hear that. Thanks!

To be honest the colorscheme reminds me something and indeed looks familiar to me, although while I was drawing it I couldn't remember where I had seen it. Anyway, if there are any similarities with other works, they weren't intentional.

You are welcome.

No problem. Now if only I could remember where I have seen it. I think it was a small Theropod...Oviraptor maybe.

In my language "T-PEKC" means "T-REX". Actually T-REX (T-PEKC) is a wrong way to type the name of the animal. It should be T. rex but I didn't know this few years ago when I started to use this nick name.

So plateosaurus wasn't an prosaurophod

It's prosauropod. Sorry for the confusion. I misread you comment and thought you said "Prosaurolophus" instead of "prosauropod" and my only Prosaurolophus artwork is really old.

Thanks agian.

very nice, though I think the body should be longer and a bit more robust.

I see what you mean. To be honest I compared my work to Hartman's skeletal once again and although I admit that there some small defferences in the proportions of the Plateosaurus' body in my work I don't think that's problem. I think you get the impression of small body because of the neck length. Once again I've drawn the neck more or less longer than it really was. I think it's turning into a common problem in my reconstructions. Looking in my oldest work which you probably have seen on JPL I see that I drew dinosaurs with really massive legs. With the time I managed to fix this, so I'm hoping I will work out and the neck proportions.

that's alright, nonetheless it is very impressive and awesome art. I'd say get a copy of the skeleton picture, trace over it and over again until you get a feel of the porportions. idk that's what I sometimes do

T-PEKC In reply to ZombieSaurian [2009-12-06 17:21:15 +0000 UTC]

That's an idea but I consider the tracing over nothing more than copying. It's much more useful if you try to start from ground zero and make the drawing from scratch. I'm gonna learn it in the hard way.

I had to trace over a skeleton for an art show for illinois, it shows a Yangchuanosaurus in central park.

I think to update my journal in a few days with a really short tutorial explaining how I do my watercolor artworks. Stay tuned.
