Did you use an ordinary pencil to create this, or a specialized art pencil?

For some reason I'm alwayssurprised by how illustrations of dinosaurs make me think of alien worlds - because I know, a lot of the world back then would be completely alien to us now.

Anyway, you've captured this very well indeed

Yes, it was an amphibian. My old books say that Ichtyostega was the first amphibian. I don't know if recently there were found older amphibian species.
