Now this is what I'm talking about nice mountains and a very interesting bottom portion to it. Ice or marsh? Hard to tell. I would have moved the shot over more but that is only because someone told me to stop centering everything. (not that it's centered I'd probably just over compensate)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Tachy-on In reply to RashAction [2005-06-25 02:16:26 +0000 UTC]

It's actually a river...

I didn't take much time taking this photo - I probably should have. I can see why they would tell you to stop centering everything... usually it makes for a very static composition, but that isn't always true - rules are made to be broken, as long as you understand why the rule exists in the first place.

I understand if you look at one of my early pictures I was quite proud of but now see alot of issues with it's right in the center all of it. I'm sure you can find it It's a dolphin and a girl and not composited or anything like that.

You want to come to Canada?

This was taken in Banff, Alberta when I used to live there.

No no, you're right! It is Canada! Banff is a town/city in Alberta (which is a province in Canada). We're divided up into provinces. Alberta is in the west part of Canada, just to the right of British Columbia.

Actually, it's my film scanner that sucks... I think I had a Nikon FG when I took that...*thinks*...I'm not sure.

Best thing about this photo in my opinion is the clouds. The light brings it all together and it turns it into a complete landscape. That's a beautiful area. Interesting painterly effect also.

stunning. i love the clouds looming over with the light breaking through and how it makes the water glow.

Thanks! I think this is the Bow River in Banff, Alberta, Canada... I'm not sure though, it could have been on Vancouver Island somewhere... I can't really remember - it was taken quite a few years ago.

Great shot. I love the contrast in the clouds, it gives the picture an β€œafter the storm” feel that's quite dynamic. The perspective grabs the viewer and draws us into the scene very effectively. Nice!
