The venerable .223/5.56mm Remington cartridge, historically also referred to as 5.56mm NATO, has been phased out as a serious martial cartridge ages ago but is still in use with various police agencies, militias and private security companies operating in remote areas where 5.56x45mm can be expected to deal with any relevant threats.
The rifle features various updates and changes to the original FAL design, including an ambitextrous bolt catch/release, an ambitextrous fire selector an an AR style magazine well utilizing a the most common pattern of polymer 5.56 magazines.
