Just a simple concept I'm making for some ancient figures. I don't have names for em, so if you want to request some I'm game!

Also taking a break from Hyenas (I love em, I'm just a tad tired for right now with drawing the yenas).

Colors aren't final either, just wanted to test em out for now. They're subject to change of course. Along with that the dude's mane (i can't ever get manes right, they're really hard for me).

They are the ancestors of Makucha in my verse. And I hear you say, "but there's a lion," yep, there is. Cause I kind of like the idea of Makucha just having a dab of lion in him. Not that he's aware though. May make em the ancestor to One-Eye as well, not sure yet. Though if I do that, then I'm making One-Eye the dad to Makucha.

Which I did this cause Makucha... is seen in a group a lot of the times, and sure so are the other leopards he runs around with, but it's usually Makucha trying to lead em around (plus the weird group change as well). The only one I imagine that ends up sticking around with Makucha in the end is Chuluun? Though I'm not sure if I'm gonna keep her as a Snow Leopard or not (may make her a white leopard idk)

So I like to imagine he's got this distant ancestor's slight instinct of "find a group, stick together," it just doesn't stick that long unfortunately cause leopards are solitary creatures at the end of the day. He does try though.

Some ideas I had for these two;

"Scruff"

- Probably some roving dude, looking for a Pride to take over, or some ladies to woo away.

- He's not the healthiest, and probably just provided some cubs to anyone who wanted cubs (didn't mean he still didn't try to convince them to join him)

- Despite this, he probably was aloof in lion terms

- The only lady he convinced to join him ended up being this gal, who I'm gonna call... "Dot" for now.

- He and "Dot" are killed the same night unfortuntely

"Dot"

- Just some Leopardess, probably higher up in whatever Kingdom she was in, close to the Royals

- Originally I was gonna make her a "Strawberry" leopard, and I tried to make her spots a bit more brownish, didn't work out. Probably will for sure change her colors (helps her stand out)

- Honestly just hung out with this dude cause he seemed chill, eventually it lead to something else

- I like to imagine unlike her mate, she was more social compared to leopards

- Probably only one or two fathered by "Scruff," a daughter of theirs eventually becoming the ancestor to Makucha (said daughter became a notorious myth with leopards and lions)

- She and "Scruff" die suddenly when their daughter is a young adult (right before she's meant to leave I'm guessing)

So yeah, I imagine they're a kind of... reflection of my Shani and Bahati? Since they didn't originally get together for the purpose of upsetting a relative (which is why Shani hooked up with Bahati), and they didn't abandon their kid due to fear. They still end up becoming absent in their kid's life, but that's because of sudden death. Originally I was gonna have it that "Dot" raised their daughter (and other kid) alone, while "Scruff" ruled over a small Pride and sort of ignored her and the kids.

Decided against it, kind of wanted a relatively happy couple that were good parents. I imagine they're a generation behind Simba's Eighth Great Grandparents? So far, far back in history, if I did a story about Simba's ancestor (aka the King with Three Daughters, and Seventh Great Grandfather I think), then their daughter would be an older adult or an elder (think Janna). So they're far back in TLK history.

There's a chance I won't keep these two either? But I just wanted to get this out since I've been thinking about it for a loooong time now, even though they themselves would have nothing in my stories, only their daughter would have a chance of having little story, and maybe a flashback to them. But the chance of me sitting down to make a actual comic is slim to none (tempting, I just can't get the energy to do so).

Which I'm trying not to make too many hybrids, I do want to sprinkle em in here and there, just cause the world is so vast in TLK, that there had to be a chance of em happening somewhere in history. Probably make a few more hybrids, just these two's daughter and Yangu for the Pridelands area, and more hybrids for the Night Pride area (Liger, Tigon, Lipard, Leopon, and Leogon, and Tipard), not during the same time of course, and maybe not even set in stone characters, just figures to show them. Probably will use that generator to get those guys tho, since they're more last minute thoughts.

Sorry for making a concept a deviant, I just don't want to clutter up my stash too much. May delete it, or move it to scraps one day, depends on how I feel tomorrow
