Description
She's wearing a formal dress with broad, off-the-shoulders necline, that's laced in the back and has detachable train and sleeves. The dress is heavily boned and worn without stays (but even though, it's more restrictive than mantua). She's also wearing a headdress made of wired lace and ribbons, called fontange.
The fashionable dress of that era was the mantua, but for all formal occasions at the French court the robe de cour was obligatory.
