There has been a brewery on this site since 1822 and it has been Tetley's Brewery since 1839 when Joshua Tetley bought the brewery for £400.
The brewery will be closed later this year I think and "Tetley's" beers will be brewed in Warrington at one of Carlsberg's sites.
The end of a long established Yorkshire brew which will still be marketed as Tetley's Bitter which it can't be unless water from the same source in Leeds is transported to Warrington but as it's a money saving exercise I doubt very much that will happen.
