This is an old animation we did way back in 2000. It won 1st place in the "14th Gawad CCP para sa Alternatibong Pelikula at Video" animation category.
I don't really know what category i should have put this film under; it's really a macabre children story of sorts, heavily influenced by Paul Berry's The Sandman.
It took us about almost 2 months to complete the 6 minute project from start to finish.
The dolls were made with paper clay, ping-pong balls for the heads, some wires, cloth and craft paper. The set is roughly a 3 x 1.5 feet table top covered with clay and some twigs with a spotlight as our only light source.
The audio quality isn't that great since we didn't have the luxury of editing in a sound stage. Everything had to be done on the spot. Even the music was recorded this way.

Long, long ago
In a land long forgotten,
Night ruled the land,
No sun could be spotted
There lived a vain woman
Who walked like a queen
Who bore a gold mirror
So her face could be seen
She came to a region
So strange and so bare
So much in contrast
To her beauty so rare
And then, to her surprise
In that place, there were people
With very odd faces
They were sickly purple
They crowded around
Like ants to sweet cake
Gazed upon her beauty
Their eyes wide awake
One offered her flowers
She didn’t know what to say
And with no hesitation
She threw them away
“Hah! Is that all you can give?
“To a beauty you’ll never see again
“In the days that you’ll live?”
She admired her countenance
At her face so fair
“What fortune you have…
“But it seems you don’t care.”
The villagers were shocked
Blown away by her pride
How can they find favor
In this fair maiden’s eyes?
Said the fat one,
“I shall bring you a gift…
“One that will please you…”
“Then go and be swift!”
He hurried away
To look for his gift
They also want to please her
So they went off, and left.
“Hahahaha!
“What creature could resist?
“My charms, my beauty?
“’NONE!” Say I! No man nor beast!”
With this, she looked at her mirror
Gazed and admired her so flawless features
And Lo! To her horror! A crack on her face!
A terrible imperfection that she has to erase!
“No this can’t be!”
At this, she scrambled
To get all of her scrolls
To get rid of her wrinkle
And see it no more.
In one of her scrolls
There was a solution
A peculiar formula
A very strange concoction
She unraveled the paper
In search of a cream
A probable cure
That crack mustn’t be seen!
It was easy to make
To her surprise
But she needs one ingredient
She needed some eyes!
All of a sudden
She felt someone tug,
“You look so beautiful!
“Can you give me a hug?”
And with one quick swipe
She took off her eyes...
She would if she could
But now she can’t cry
Then came an old man
“Have you seen my daughter?”
“She gave her eyes
“How thoughtful of her!”
Another one passed by
She called him, and explained,
“I have to get rid of my wrinkle
“And be rid of my pain
“I have a strange concoction
“An ingredient I need…
“Now here, listen closely and follow my lead…”
“I have gathered eyes
“But it isn’t enough
“I need more you see…
“And THAT is no bluff!”
The more eyes she got
The more she wanted
The nearer they came,
“MORE!” She ranted
Now, came the three…
“Are they all for me?
“What wonderful gifts...But...
“Only one would suffice…
“Not flowers or gems…
“But only YOUR EYES!”
She swiped and plucked
Their eyes from their nerves...
Her obsession drove her
“This is all I deserve!”
Now looking quite contented,
Her pouch full of eyes…
She then moved on,
Not heeding their cries.
So she took to her scrolls
Moved with great haste...
She took the fresh eyes
And turned them to paste…
Quickly, she crushed them
Not using just one…
She emptied her pouch
Until there was none
She added some spices,
And when it was done
She put some on her wrinkle
And then it was gone
At this, she was delighted
She put some cream
Her face became more beautiful
“Much better that what they have seen!”
And so she flaunted
For them to adore...
But, she took away their eyes
And they could see her no more.

To be perfectly honest... had the quality and sound been better, I would want to DD this piece. It's a great story with fun characters and you guys did a great job!
