Well...western comics; especially US ones have one penciller, one inker, one colorist, one script writer. Japanese comics have a different system; it's usually the same guy doing everything at once with the help of a few hired assistants doing cleanup and background inking and not all comics are monthly ones.
Titles like Naruto, One-Peice, Inu Yasha and such are weekly and the editor pressure is different as same as the method of publishing. So the art have to be made steady and fast with good quality.
Mostly people who say "omg, manga looks cheap lololol11oneone" doesn't care to get the full picture and see it from different angles. From a Japanese perspective wouldn't US comics look overworked and gaudy with all its emphasis on detail and heavy shadows?
Doing something seemingly "simple" in a good way is equally as hard. But to make it "simple" you first have to know all the basics to know what to exhaggerate and how to cut.
Quite basicly it is as constructive as bashing a caricature or an extremely simplified figure drawing.
Everyone has different taste; just remember that.

Yes, I agree. Many people tend to see manga-style artwork as "simple" and easy to do as opposed to its western style counterparts... but this is not so.
The style is deceptively simple, that's why there are so many artists who emulate the style, but mastering it is another matter.

Defiantly some Marvel/Jim Lee in there.... it seems to be how a lot of people start out... until they refine their style like you have.
