i dont agree...i think fanfiction is just as good, if not better, than any other form of writing!
bad ff is bad! no argue! but a good ffwriter has to adapt more than someone who writes a novel or a book! they have to get into another persons mind to understand the characters they are writing about! thats a problem that you dont have when you made up the characters yourself!
and its how good you are at THAT that determens wheter you are a good ff-writer or not!
its much more work and you`r under heavier critiqe considering the character development!
so be prod! because you are one of the best!

thank you truly. and while I'll agree with you that fanfiction can have it's merits if taken seriously, it's more often than not a vehicle for tweens to live out their mid-day afternoon fantasies. On one hand, I'm glad they're at least writing, but on the other hand it's like building a particularly shoddy sandcastle...there's no real progress being made.
(oh, and the sand was stolen from someone else's beach too.

I completely agree-- good fanfiction can be just as good as published literature. (sometimes better, when I think about some of the crap published nowadays...)
and feel free to tell me off whenever you see something amiss-- I feed off critiques.
