DOOP DE DOOP I'M A NERD.I'll upload a better pictuer when I actually scan it, rather than taking a photo. But for now, thats what you get.
Grey paper, prisma pencils, oil colors. Bustin out my illustrative skills for this one!

absolutely! Its tamer than what I imagined, but its a very hard thing to draw.

I say you captured it perfectly! I love the vibrant colors and planets and stars that seem to fade and appear. The WotC version is rather dull and doesnt make the gift seem that great, but this makes it seem like its worth the risks of traveling through the Aether just to get to get to a plane. This has life, vibrancy mixed with darkness, endless possiblities.

A high price tag is no trade-off during gameplay, though 
Though I did pull both the new Chandra and Garruk in boosters recently, so I can make use of this new power in Planeswalkers!

its colored pencils melted with turpenoid, then oil paints atop that, then more colored pencils on top of that.

Oh, how awesome! o.o Never thought of working in a method like that. But I've also never delved into anything oil paint related, so I wouldn't have a clue what I was doing even if I tried.

its super-thinned down by turpenoid, so its really just a wash of color over the existing pencils. only if something really needed darkened or lightened did I do much actual painting. It also dries super fast that way.
I actually put one more layer on since this picture, of white goache, just to bring out the highlights some more, and to add some stars.
