Hello, my name is Jun, your Student Council President, and I'll be handling sign-ups for UTAWA Gakuen's Student Council Elections this year.

There's a lot of information coming your way, but if you can't absorb this, you're probably not ready for this club anyway, so if you find yourself checking out of my speech halfway, you should consider checking out of this application in general. >:T

Anyway.

Here's a basic run-down of what we do:

This is a club for those who care about the student body’s voice being heard, and for those who truly want to go above and beyond in involvement with their school. Student Council primarily handles organization of clubs across the school, making sure that all clubs get their allotted funding, and are functioning properly (following rules and regulations and the such.) They also make sure that students don’t cause trouble for teachers or the general populous, and help organize big events like dances or fairs in coordination with the Events class students.

The Student Council has four officer positions and six member positions:

1. The President-- that's me b(=`v = ), primarily runs the meetings, keeping organized tabs on all of the Student Council’s activities and the never ending to-do-list. It is the President’s responsibility to uphold the reputation of the Student Council and to delegate tasks to other officers, instructing them on their duties. The president should be capable of doing any of the four officer duties if so called upon. The president is the primary correspondent with teachers and school officials, and as such must have exceptional communication skills, and should be able to connect/reach out to the student body.

2. The Vice-President acts as my right-hand. Basically, the eyes and ears on campus when I'm not available. S/He primarily monitors the halls and makes sure students are behaving properly, and reports all necessary findings to me. The Vice-President should be capable enough to run meetings should I be absent. By the way, he or she is not required to make sure that his or her fellow officers are doing their jobs-- unless filling in for me.

3. The Secretary must keep track of everything that happens in meetings, and often does most of the organization in the club. It is the Secretary’s responsibility to check in with clubs, write up reports on their activities, and present these reports at meetings. The Secretary must also keep up-to-date contact information on all members of the Student Council, should anyone need to be reached. He or she should be just as familiar with the Student Body as me.

4. The Treasurer must, naturally, have exceptional math skills. The treasurer works together with the secretary to keep track of all of Student Council’s expenses, as well as the fund distributions amongst the other clubs in school. The treasurer makes sure that all the clubs including Student Council stay out of the red, and work within their budgets.

All other member positions are primarily assistance-based to the secretary and vice-president. They also form committees to find ways to get tasks delegated to them by me, done in a timely manner.

Unfortunately, the student council does not accept members who are presidents of their own clubs, as Student Council is a true commitment. I don't want someone who's going to do a half-baked job.

That being said, to apply for the Student Council, you must comment with a link to your UTAWA Gakuen application, your desired position, and a one to two sentence statement as to why you would do well in said desired position.

The applications will be reviewed by the Student Council Advisor, Noonoru Sasayaki and myself until August 26th, after which the ultimately selected members will be announced after August 26. Again, you may not apply after August 26th, so show us your stuff and get your application in early.

If you happen to apply for an officer position during this time, and also submit an application to create your own club, you will be disqualified from the running.

That's about it, so think over it carefully. This isn't a walk in the park, and being in the Student Council comes with a lot of responsibility. But that doesn't mean it's not fun, and it certainly doesn't mean you have to be serious and upright all the time.
