This should really be titled "How I use refrence images" Because i dont normally start out like that when drawing at all XD
If im drawing from my head I almost always start with the eyes and then worry about the body later lol

1 Ok, First
I sketch the general Idea of where the body is going to go, and the posture

2 Then I draw in some details like the wrinkles in clothing, I repositioned the arms because they wernt correct. I tried to get the position of the head, and where the facial features go.

3 Here I drew alot more detail in the clothing, and face, added my own face and hair, I even considered where my hat would go if I decided to draw it. I also marked a line showing where the image cuts off, so i could tell if everything was in the right position to it.

4 I next decided to draw my kitten next to me, and a few toys :3

5 Next I inked the lines Im keeping, the most correct ones i could figure from the refrence image.

6 I then took an eraser to everything. Then drew in where the shadows would go with pencil. [Normally I'd also draw Highlights but I didnt feel like it for this one.]

7 Now I decided to add the darker color tones. For the lighter colored areas, I erased my pencil lines, so they wouldnt show up. There is black in the base of the hair, and dark purple dark blue, dark skin tone there. I used the same color pencil for each clothing here, just pressing lightly in the lighter areas, plenty of space there to blend other shades later on.

8 Next I added a layer of brown to the hair, a lighter, more fuscia purple blended into the shirt, lighter blue in the pants. This particular one is scanned too dark, its not that dark as u can tell by the one after and before it.

9 Finally I added some orenge to the hair, went back over it with brown. Went over some of my inked lines with marker again. I darkend the skin abit. I added a small bit of purple to the pants to make the darks darker. Then I used Photo 5 to smooth everything by smudging, because I dont have a blend tool with my prismas like normal people lol

I'll post the completed peice soon. :3
EDIT::
Here is another Color option that didnt pan out [link]

hmm I hadn't thought about another tutorial. I'm not sure how to other than to tell you to find a photo of what you want. A good hugging pose and try to mimic it, its all I do.

Thank you! Takes nearly twice as long to draw when you have to stop and scan it at every stage lol
