I was told that Humans are the only beings *on earth* that shed tears when they're sad.Maybe crying means we're human after all.

well dogs wimper, and animals can make sounds or act differently when depressed. They just dont express it the same way we do, and they don't shed tears.

well they do shed tears, but not in conjunction with a feel'in of sadness... they do with eye irritations and what not...
