Unfortunately the African Lion population has decreased 90% in the last 5 decades, having gone extinct in 26 countries only to be found in 8% of their original range.

Their main threats include Human-Lion conflicts (often over Predatory behavior on Live-stock. This is due to close proximity, as well as depletion of their natural prey)

If you share my passion for these african beauties, I HIGHLY suggest you look into the following THREE Projects currently in place to Protect and Conserve these animals and their habitats.

PRIDE ALLIANCE

Pride Alliance actually funds Numerous conservation programs (including some of the ones listed below). Great resource of information as well!

 Ewaso Lions

Ewaso Lions conserves Kenya’s lions and other large carnivores by promoting co-existence between people and wildlife. Ewaso Lions uses sound science, education, and capacity building to foster ownership of conservation by local people, and help guide the long-term conservation management of lions in protected areas and on private lands.

Lion Guardians

Lion Guardians currently trains and supports a team of more than 80 East Africans who are actively protecting lions covering approximately 5,500 sq. kms (1.3 million acres)

IF you want the print, without joining at the Print tier (or you want extra), a Limited # will be sold on Etsy next month for $20 (before shipping), with $5 from each sale going to The Pride Alliance at the end of Feb.  Otherwise the print tier is $15/month!
