Description
So after the fun that was this year's Halloween selection, i thought i'd get back into doing another artwork for the DINOVERSE PROJECT.

and it's another little scene from the second major story. If you want more info on Dinoverse II,

In previous random scenes covering the second story...we had a look at William Reily exploring some caves > www.deviantart.com/taliesaurus…

But here were looking at the other main characters, because....

The interesting thing to note about Dinoverse II is that for the most part...
it is split into two two main story arcs that later converge together.

One is with the misadventures of the previously mentioned Will Reily
The other is with the three other main "human" characters traveling together as a group, including:
Patience Mcray (Tough tomboy basketball player of Wetherford) in the body of a adult acrocanthosaurus
Zane McInerny (Wetherford's class clown...with a secret) in the form of a late adolescent Astrodon
And of course, Mr Robert "Bob" London (Bertram's science teacher) in the body of a subadult Zephyrosaurus
Their quest is to journey to find Will, reach a certain "ground zero" and somehow stop a extinction event
from occurring that threatens to change the timeline. They have no idea what it is they should do...
But it has something to do with a special amber key they are carrying with them.

(and when i say amber key i mean a LITERAL piece of amber vaguely shaped like a key)

in any case... this is a random scene from one of the mornings on their quest.
In case anybody is curious about what is going on here... allow me to explain:

Most of them are awake and ready to get moving but they soon find out that Zane is not typically a morning person or early riser. If he were human, waking him up would be very easy but as a 7-9 ton astrodon, it is of course WAY harder. Mr london (holding the amber key) is willing to give the student lad a few more minutes but fellow student Patience is not having ANY of it, she finds this class clown just the most annoying person to be stuck with. In fact she's feeling VERY tempted to just give him a wake-up bite. Just a little one.

Zane meanwhile had a VERY hard time getting to sleep last night... most for having to keep an eye on "Runt".

Who is "Runt"? you might ask...

Well when Zane first arrived in this epoch 112 millon years ago, he found himself in this sauropod body, among a herd of fellow Astrodon. Heading where? He didn't know nor especially care. But as he tried to get the bearing of his situation... he found himself being followed by a very young member of the herd. A "Runt" of the herd as he thought... He grew annoyed with how the little long-neck was playing around his legs, so annoyed that eventually he drove the "Runt" off with a loud scary noise.

But before he could think that was that, he felt his body getting whipped by one of the herd members... he turns around and sees DOZENS of disapproving faces. The message was clear, him scaring off the little one was NOT COOL and he should be the one to go get him. He asks out loud why it has to be HIM to go find the "runt" until very slowly through memories from his host body and through the points of others made clues to him and wouldn't you know it... the "Runtly" sauropodlet is actually his host body's BABY BROTHER!

Safe to say Zane is mortified, for you see, back in the present in his human body, he was always the youngest child in his family with family with several sisters all older than him. And if being stuck in the body of a long-neck of the ancient past wasn't bad enough... now he is being saddled with the responsibility of being the OLDER SIBLING!

So he goes to find the little Tike, reunites with Patience and Mr London and despite his efforts, he just can't bring himself to drive away his baby brother... who from that point becomes a member of their traveling party. Eventually the term "Runt" Zane came the baby sauropod becomes a nickname of endearment and he grows to care about his new baby brother.

IN BASIC TERMS: Their relationship is kinda like Kenai and Koda from brother bear.
The main difference being that "Runt" can't talk and isn't concerned about finding his mom.
(because sauropods had a more turtle like method of breeding or R strategy as it's called)

And let me tell you right now... Just like Koda from brother bear, "Runt" is such an adorable, playful, naughty little rascal, always chasing Mr London around when he gets the chance. Sometimes he likes to play-ram into the flank of Zane, sometimes he loves to roll around in the dirt or mud. It's equal parts cute and annoying.

Disturbingly "Runt" sometimes tries to eat some of Zane's 'guano' (Mr London explains that baby sauropods likely did this as a way to obtain certain important gut-bacteria to aid in digestion but that doesn't make it any less gross, ESPECIALLY for Zane who doesn't like the idea of keeping an eye on Runt whilst he "does his business" so to speak).

And then of course there are the times the little sauropod gets distracted by something and wanders off to play with some random object or even the nest of ornithocheirid pterosaurs, full of emerging hatchlings. Zane has to go get the little tyke all while trying not to distress the parents flying overhead.

In this image, "Runt" is thankfully behaving himself, just sitting beside his brother large snoring flank and watching the other talk to each other. He obviously can't understand a word they are saying, but he is getting the idea that they seem somehow "annoyed" by his big brother... was it something his brother did? He doesn't know, all he knows is that he loves his brother and is happy to wait for him to wake in his own time.

QUESTION: What do you lot think of the baby sauropod "Runt"?

If you were to ask me: In a way... he is kinda like a more realistic version of littlefoot (land before time) mixed with Koda (brother bear). A very sweet and adorable little companion but also a real annoying naughty tyke at times. But despite his mischief... I found myself really coming to like his charming nature, I hope you lot like him :3

The main premise is centred around these teenagers who through some strange science-ish accident have their minds/souls taken out of their respective bodies transported millions of years into the mesozoic, and then placed into random pre-existing dinosaurs (think of it as like a strange form of possession rather than full on transformation)
