Wahoo! Finally! This is the last one. It felt that would never happen.Of the thirteen mascots I finished for Sakura Con's contest, this is my second favorite. No real reason. It was just fun. The green came out tealish. Not sure why...

i have a friend in the VD department who's making her thesis off that culture designs! interesting blend of the two, Alaskan native and Japanese... everyone knows japanese and Alaskan natives love whales

i really love where yout coloring is going - the whale and the kimono fabric and obi have different textures... smooth but not too smooth that it lacks that soft look 83

Thanks! You should have seen the first colored version of this. It looked like a rainbow barfed on the obi. I recoiled in horror and did a do-over. The texture was tricky. Ukiyo-e is soooo flat. I'm glad you noticed. *grins*

XD I think I saved it. I have a stack of rejects around here somewhere. lol! Seriously, it was ugly. I was going to have the whale be chasing salmon, but it made it look too crowded. So I just made him bigger instead. *grins*

Nice...I like the design on her kimono.
Anyway, I could give her a back story, but it's on an either/or basis. I can be kinda dark or something that she's just living her life casually and things happen to her. (Those things can be funny or weird or both.)
