Far above the Equator, deep within the land of wind, ice, mountains and snow, a young girl - husky,
petite, and quite strong for her size - held out a piece of fresh caribou meat towards a young male
ookamonos. He was not wild, no.... he had been born in their tribe, but thus far he had refused to
bond with any human who had attempted to do so. All the older, stronger youths had tried, and all
had failed. Now, it was her turn. The mild blizzard that whipped about her hood fell into faint
background noise as the ookamonos approached....

He was young, so he was not at his full size, but Inkhart - as the tribe had taken to calling him, for his
appearance as much as his apparent lack of all emotion towards the tribesmembers - was obviously
very strong. But the girl had no fear. In this frozen land, fear was synonymous with death - if you were
afraid, then you would make a mistake... and you would die.

Fear was different from respect, however.... and that the girl had in a large quantity..

In a land of green, far, far below the Equator, another similar event was taking place. Overhead, the
pink and peach blossoms shed their petals in a soft, silent rain above the den of a smaller ookamonos
- a female. She had once been bound in companionship to an elder, but he had passed from this life
unexpectedly, and in her state of grief, Shanti had been wronged grievously by a pack of foul-hearted
youths. She had fled, and now lived alone... too tame to strike out on her own, but too hurt to trust
in man. This is where the other - a boy in his late teens - enters into the grand story. He, bound and
determined to heal Shanti's hurts, went alone into the jungle with a piece of fresh and fragrant sushi.

He did not know the exact place where she had made her home, but the boy did have a close idea. It
was no more than a two hour's search before he found her. But the ookamonos would not even meet
his eyes before retreating deep into her den. Perhaps....

Turning away from the den's mouth, the youth took off his coolie hat and with a piece of twine pulled
from his vest, tied the meat onto the brim before replacing it upon his head. Now... he would wait,
for as long as it took.

Not... exactly from his hand per-say, but... it is from off his person, so....
