I sure hope this is what you mean XD I imagined a goopy, liquid sort of creature swirling around in the sky.

I was trying out a new way to shade but I'm not sure it worked very well

The way the body is twisted in on itself and just meshes so well with the consistency of the entire body is incredible. You have such a talent m' dear!

Not a bad concept, Jordan! I must apologize for my tardiness in regards to replying, but either way, better late than never.
I'm not too sold on this design, but we can't like everything thrown our way. But the colors truly are alluring, while the lightning is quite a nice touch to the erratic manner of this dragon's body. So in retrospect, I love this for the backrground and creativity. Brilliant work, as always!

Agreed! I always look for overanalyzation that means tell not show in my writing, and long, dreary paragraphs. I've been fixing that recently, and I love how my work sounds now. X3

It's how I went wrong. I would go into an over analyzed explanation of everything without pause for transition other than "he/she moved to the next *****".

I used premade cloud brushes as a template to see how I should layout the clouds (I usually brush them as black shapes in an undertone layer) and then use white/pink-ish to actually draw the clouds in, and the dodge tool to draw light hitting them.

(They don't work so well on skin or hair, but for dragon scales they're perfect!

I know, right!!! For my dragon scales, I mostly do the textures, now. But the dodge and burn tools must be my favorite out of them all!!

Textures are a cool final effect I think. You can make your digital drawing look like a painting that way XD
Dodge and burn is also good for backgrounds. Since they usually give a nice soft shaded effect
