I almost scrolled right by this picture without noticing the barbed wire in the background of the flag... I dont know where this photograph was taken but it makes me very sad that a flag would be flying so close to that barbed wire...
would you give me a little background behind this photograph?

and now the background - this photograph was taken from extermination camp in poland when i was there...you know...holocaust :/

I am a high school art teacher and every year we have our students enter a contest related to the holocaust. The artwork goes on display at the holocaust museum but it's a great time to teach our students about the holocaust. I would love to show this image to them next year if that's ok with you. It is a very moving piece regardless.
