Description
This is an oldie, but a goodie. I carved this in 1989. I sold it at a Science Fiction Convention for a ridiculously small ammount. I still love it, and probably always will.Cartoon: Nancy Janda drew the Phoenix, which was used with her permission. I drew the flame circle around him.
Plate: Walnut Hollow Farms.
Finish: Colored tung oil.

i think the phoenix is my favorite mythical creature, if i ever had to tell someone what my favorite mythical creature was. i just love the idea that something new and greater can be born out of adversity and struggle. very lovely depiction here. your work amazes me.

I don't mind at all, I'm tickled. Just do me a favor, and any time you actually write about any of my carvings which are collaborations, make sure you give my friends credit, too. I carved the image, and drew all the flames, but Nancy Janda drew the phoenix.

The phoenix is one of my favorites. I am glad you like him. I have done others, I should post them for you. But I never get around to photographing them until they sell, so everything is old. I feel weird only posting old stuff. And I never finish new stuff until just before a show. Catch 22.
