The tonal difference in the piece is not bad, does show you the focus of where the piece should be. Perspective and composition of the piece are rather well done as well.
A couple of things to note, however;
Firstly, I think that there's a difference in quality in the background and the foreground. The background looks slightly of lower quality, which detracts away from the image.
Secondly, I feel that this piece is supposed to say something, but I'm not feeling it properly, because of the colors in this image. I'm not certain if I'm supposed to feel like it's surreal, ethereal, or depressing, like she's looking at somewhere she can't be. I suggest exploring colors on this piece for better impact.
Other than that, I think this is a rather appealing piece of work, and with a little tweaking, can look really good.

This scene fits well with a chapter I am writing about a beautiful young woman who lost her father and could not leave the sight of the sea to sooth her grieving soul.
