Tribute to one of my favorite animated films of all time, Princess Mononoke by Hayao Miyazaki.Seeing this film when I was young played a huge part in inspiring to follow art as a career. I wanted to tell stories in the unique, amazing way he does. I know I do a lot of fanart of Princess Mononoke, and it really is because it has inspired me my whole life. I wanted to try to capture the spirit I see in the movie; the purity coupled with rage, the face and mask imagery, and the absence of a clear good or evil.

I only recently saw this film and I was surprised. I like how you phrase it, "the absence of a clear good or evil." To me, that is the film and I really liked it.

I have to agree, this film was very inspirational to me as a youth as well. Between this and the Lion King I was pretty much doomed for an art career, too much imagery and storytelling to pass up on.

Princess Mononoke is definitely one of my favourite movies ever and I totally agree! I love all of Hayao Miyazaki's movies so much and they have a special place in my heart. Very nice work

This is such a gorgeous fanart of this movie. It's so incredibly unique. I love how it's very symmetrical and the central. Just the way the eye easily views all aspects of this piece is amazing! I love how you drew her with the mask and how all these elements reflect her. It's really a gorgeous tribute to this iconic movie. <3

It's always hard to pick a fave movie, and even more between Miyazaki's masterpieces, but this one is definitely one of mine. It touches so many subjects and gives you a multiple view on them, without pushing you to one point of view, and that's something that you don't see too often in the industry. Besides, the complexity of the characters and the realism of their interactions is way above your average animated movie.
All of that is perfectly visible in this piece, so I think you did a wonderful job in summing it up in a beautiful artwork.
