Ip established the customs of the blackbird clan that persisted for centuries. Children were taught to scavenge for bones during their nightly outings, to search for them during the day as they sat silently and watched the valley through the eyes of crows. They learned to identify species by the bones' shape and curve, and to trade for the pieces they needed until they could construct a complete skeleton. They hung the bones in twine across their bodies as they travelled the yellow valley. They gazed through them into blackness in the night until they saw through the eyes of the crows that roamed above and watched the valley beneath in meandering circles.ΒOnline Store
