Personality:
Isa’s personality is still very much reminiscent of his days as a growlithe: easily delighted and a people pleaser. He has an incredibly gentle nature which is why he typically performs so poorly in battle. His need to please is what drove him to continue fighting diligently in order to appease his former trainers and make them happy. He’s easily manipulated and taken advantage of due to his lack of experience with how human society works, even among pokehumans. His former trainers kept him cooped up in his pokeball for most of his life when he wasn’t being called out to battle, so human interaction is shaky grounds for him; he’s still learning.
He’s happy to try and make friends, eager to see the good nature in people regardless of how little there may actually be. He tends to be a little shy at first- especially in his pokehuman form, which he’s still not entirely used to. Given the chance, and the privacy, he will readily revert to his pokemon form in which he is much more comfortable. Once befriended he gets very touchy and physically intimate (platonically of course) and you will be in his good graces forever if you cuddle up with him for a nap.
When he’s fighting in the fight pits he’s a lot more tense, uncomfortable, and closed off; wanting to get things over with as soon as possible. He only fights out of misguided obligation towards his roommate who essentially rescued him, got him his dittech from Apellon, and job in the fight pits. He hates fighting the more he does it, but he feels like he can’t back out of it without looking incredibly ungrateful and selfish.
History:
Isa has been passed through the hands of half a dozen trainers in his life, and all of them focused wholly on competitive battling. His first trainer obtained him from a breeder. He was the runt of a small litter, and the last to be given a home. He spent the first seven years of his life with them before being traded away so that they might receive a pokemon that was desired desperately by his trainer.
In the hands of his new trainer he was treated relatively the same; battles were the focus, and their trainer-pokemon relationship was put on a back burner. Wash, rinse, repeat this cycle through four more trainers as he grew more and more disheartened with each trade, feeling unloved and unwanted. His fifth trainer was the one to evolve him into an arcanine which gave him a huge swell of pride for a time, but it was short lived when he was once again traded away.
He was almost unsurprised when his last trainer actually left him in his pokeball behind after a failed battle (an accident really, but he would never know that). In sorry condition and in desperate need of a visit to a pokemon center he was found by chance by a patrat pokehuman named Tino. Tino got him to a pokemon center and was on the verge of sending him on his merry way when he learned Isa was a battle pokemon and his attitude changed. Suddenly charitable and a friendly good samaritan, Tino generously offered Isa a place to live with him, telling him there was a spare room for him in his apartment if he was willing to use a dittech and live as a pokehuman. Weighing his options and seeing no other ideal alternatives Isa accepted gratefully.
It wasn’t until after he’d been living with Tino for a couple of weeks and just started using his dittech when Tino sprung the news on him that he’d gotten him a job at the fight pits because, after all, he’d have to help pay for rent and his dittech, which wasn’t free (a bald faced lie, but how was Isa to know any better?). He didn’t realize that Tino was using him to further his own greed since he bets on the pit fights regularly.

To say Isa felt like a father figure towards Harvey would be a bit of a stretch, but he certainly feels a familial bond with the kiddo and loves him dearly.
Hiro ( doodlingdizzy ) || Friend || Hanging around with Harvey goes almost hand in hand with seeing Hiro, which Isa has no complaints about. She's wonderful, friendly, and owns a relaxing tea shop that he loves to spend time in. Isa considers her the closest thing to family he has.

Ebenezer ( Relevancies ) || Close Friend/Romantic Interest || Another pokehuman Isa has met through Harvey. He was a little unsure about Ebenezer when he first met him but he warmed up quickly and almost no time considered the man one of his dearest friends.

Belle ( doodlingdizzy ) || Colleague & Friend || A fellow fighter like himself, though a lot rougher around the edges, Isa's been smacked around by Belle a number of times (usually in good sport, friendly spars and such). She's tough on him but he still considers her a friend.

Neil ( SunoWolf ) || Friend || One of Harvey's friends and a tag along on his adventures, thus Isa finds himself around the pup just as much, growing nearly as fond of him as Harvey almost instantly. He appreciates Neil's enthusiastic love for his baking a lot.
Shylock ( CoryKatze ) || Acquaintance || He met Shylock only briefly during a cruise but in that short time they shared a deep conversation, during which Isa quickly offered Shylock his friendship. He was left confused and somewhat hurt when it was turned down.

Extras:
• His dream is to someday work in or own a quiet little bakery/cafe. He bakes what he can in his spare time to improve his baking skills.
• In a regular pokemon battle he typically does very poorly, but when pitted in a human-form only fight he does remarkably well despite his incredible lack of enthusiasm.
• The scars on his face are because of his accidental abandonment. His injuries from his last battle went too long untreated and ended up scarred instead of healing properly when he was finally brought to a pokemon center.
• He has a few whispy gray hairs on his muzzle in pokemon form and in his hair in pokehuman form: a combination of stress and age.
