A sketch that I decided to colour and then decided to shade and then decided to add a background to, because I quite like it but I am far too lazy to do actual lineart. xDThis is my fae Woodland Acara on Neopets. <3 Just morphed her a few days ago. I kind of mixed a few different beings from different cultures to end up at her character, so she's part Fae, part Dryad, and part Gille Dubh. She is proud and dainty and curious and a Guardian of Ash and she likes apples, so. Yes. I am quite fond of her.
Or, more coherently, she's a character who shows up in the mini-series I'm writing for the NT's 500th issue. xD In story, she's one of what she would call the original Woodlanders — a race of immortal Neopets (or are they? *brick'd*) who inhabited Neopia's forests before the Faeries came to Neopia. The Woodlanders are now all but extinct, living only in the deepest parts of the Haunted Woods, known only in legend.
...Incidentally, their legend is so popular in mainstream Neopian culture that they've invented a paint brush so now you too can look like one of the immortal beings of ancient lore that we've all but extirpated! = D
Don't worry. It's a nice series.

Not yet. I have enough NP for it. Thing is, I'm saving a lot of that NP for a Maractite Paintbrush if/when they make a Maractite Jetsam. Zarkos is gonna look so badass!
Anyway, the Woodland pet's name is Naia. I recently realized she shares the same name as the Fountain Faerie She's kind of tied to the life force of Neopia itself; specifically, to a tree somewhere in the endless plains. She's currently a Green Aisha!

I've actually decided to make Naia into a Woodland Acara, but only because nobody has a Woodland Paint Brush on either the TP or the Auction House for a reasonable price I think Naia's backstory is that she was born from Neopia's answer to Yggdrasil, the World Tree of Norse mythology. If it dies... She dies. So instead of being born from the Faeries, she's pretty much the avatar of an entire Lost Forest.

I'm really glad you were able to get a hold of a Woodland pet, though, even if she isn't the species you originally intended her to be. Naia's backstory sounds fantastic so far. I really like how you tied Norse mythology into it — I love mixing Neopian canon with real-world legends. 8D
My Acara is tied to a tree too, sort of, but in a very different way. ^_^ She's spiritually and physically linked to the Ash tree — not a specific Ash tree, but any Ash tree. She can turn into one when she's threatened, and she can make them grow, empathize with them, etc.
Being the avatar of a Lost Forest sounds pretty epic, though. xD

I would love to know what to call her -- as asking a fae her Name, or even just her name, is typically a Very Bad Idea -- for she is beautiful. ^_^
Also the title of this makes me want to do something with the phrase 'Amber and Ashes', which I'd forgotten I'd never done anything with when I first found the sound of, five or six years ago. Mm.
