Blood Ravens are another chapter that often is shown for a long series of video games, of course they arenΒ΄t as popular, but itΒ΄s the second in the list of well known poster chapters, only after that the typical chapters we all know come in popularity

Some people are just afraid of doing something else if that what they already have is working.
For myself I donΒ΄t like Ultramarines that much, becouse the normal marines cling to the book too much that roboute guiliarme(I donΒ΄t know how to spell him) wrote.
ItΒ΄s seems like some sort of religion and the imperior "loves" religion, doesnΒ΄t he?
I really respect thse Ultramarines that know that this book isnΒ΄t the only way and adapt to the situation, but they always end up being either banned (send to death missions) or taken by the inquisition becouse of some questionable reasons (the game space marine)

I think Ultramarines have potential, but I only read sad things or about heros that get send away. DidnΒ΄t read any Book about them that had anyone intresting not send away but Marneus augustus calgar.

I love to play story with each game I play, for that I have to know what the armys I play are, I was used to play ultramarines but somewhen many years ago I change them into Salamander, normally it is bad to overpaint miniatures, but they really needed that and look way better now than they used to look.
So yeah I love Lore

Looks like members of the Third and First Companies are giving the enemy hell. Was that intentional or do the colors of the trim of their pauldrons not matter?

Hehhe no, the pauldorns coloring does have its reasons and intentions:
From left to right, top to bottom the characters and their companies are as follows (at least this was the info I was given ^^):
Cpt. Oculus, 3rd Company, red trim, leader of the Strike Force
Cpt. Algernon, 1st Company, white trim, leader of the 1st Veteran Company
Sergeant Saur, 5th Company, black trim
Meridius, 2nd Company, gold trim
Phyllionell, 1st Company, white trim
Reithas, 2nd Company's Chaplain, gold trim
So yea ^^

Hm, nope didnt know about that hidden watermark. How/where to implement it? I think it would be worth the hassle
Hm, well I tried to use your paintover you did last time for me, to make it work. However, the idea was that they face a frontline, so they are spreading out. Plus, to some extent I followed the usual routine of the "pyramid" space marine drawing, the only difference is that they are not on the top of a hill and sorrounded by a swarm of tyranid/ork/"insertrandomenemyfaction" While composition-vise it would look better if they'd all face the same direction, the scene itself would make it look totally silly. Since they just breached a perimiter, which is not a small corridor or something. Still, I understand that this would've need some tweaking and I agree.
I just cant grasp the composition as an idea. I did look up books and whatnot, but the basic ideas of the composition menthods (like golden rule or the rule of thrids) are good, but I can't understand how to compose. I know there should be lines in my head, about where they look, how the different items position themselves to eachother, the light/dark areas, etc. I've eaten though a few books in this topic but so far this is as close as I can get on my own.
Yea, going out of my comfort zone is a top priority. Even with this drawing I've gone out, quite far, since I've needed to work with multiple characters + I had to extabilish a background of some sort. Right now I started to dabble into matte painting, which covers one of my biggest lacking area: backgounds. I always tried to challenge myself drawing after drawing, some succeeded, some... dont. I just need a bit push/advice so I can get to the right direction.
One thing is to know about something and an entirely different beast when it comes to implement said knowledge. Composition and colors are the two main areas that I'm struggling to implement the way I'd want. I have a picture in my mind, what I'd like it to look like, but most of the time I can't fully do it. Which is frustrating as heck.
