“THIS ISN’T FUN ANYMORE!” Shimshon screeched as he pelted down the street.
The monstrosity lumbered down the street, with his allies in tow. It was fast for something so big and heavy. He folded his ears to his head, and stretched his limbs out as far as they could go with each bound.
“I like this plan,” Irma laughed from behind the giant. “Even if this doesn’t work, I like this plan.” Brexio joined in her laughter, oblivious to the Sandshrew rolling her eyes behind him.
Shimshon cleared a food cart in one leap. For a moment he felt like a flying type, the wind carrying his weight, the wind rushing through his headfur-- wait he wouldn’t be able to feel the wind on his headfur if his hat was secure on his head. With a panicked glance behind him, he saw his hat drifting through the air, floating in the direction of the rampaging monster.
“My hat!” he cried, turning abruptly in the opposite direction.
“I’ll get your hat,” Luke called. “Just keep runnin’!”
“I can’t leave her behind,” Shimshon kept charging toward the giant. Despite the oncoming threat, he dove right into its path.
“Got it!” He exclaimed happily, placing it atop his head. Less than a moment later, a large shadow formed over him, and he looked up to once again see a large cylindrical figure, ready to crush him.
“HELP!” He shrieked. Moments before he was crushed, a tiny hole opened up beside him, followed by a tiny arm grabbing his tail and pulling him in.
“Hurry, this tunnel’s going to collapse when his foot comes down!” Magda yelled over her shoulder.
Shimshon swallowed his rising fear at this tight space, and shuffled as quickly as he could through the tunnel, letting his whiskers brush against the dirt walls and guide him forward. They squeezed out of the tunnel just in time; the encroaching sound of crumbling rocks rang in the back of his ears. As soon as he’d composed himself, he was met with a sharp impact to the face. He collapsed to the ground, gazing up to see a very grumpy Magda, one hand balled into a tiny yet powerful fist.
“What part of ‘We’ll get the stupid hat’ did you not understand!?” He could clearly see her seething with rage. He could have gotten hit again if it weren’t for larger hand stopping her.
“Calm down, Maggie…” Brexio’s voice sounded from above her. “It was an honest mistake.”
“Mistake my rump!” She cried, turning her rage on him. “He coulda’ died! I coulda’ died!”
“Penelope is not just a hat,” Shimshon defended himself. “She’s my--”
His delusion was interrupted by another sharp blow to the head. This time he owed the strike to Irma’s outstretched claw. Her eyes were icy slits. Brexio snickered, earning a burning look from the lobster Pokémon.
“Sorry, sorry…” He grumbled. “Sorry for being entertained...”
“While this is touching, we really should get back to the rampaging statue,” Luke remarked.
During the confusion, the statue had turned to face them again, raising his arm for another mighty blow.
“Run!” Brex cried, grabbing Magda with a hand and moving quickly away from danger.
The group scattered like bedevil in smoke. They weaved around the giant’s legs, heading north once more. The creature turned towards them, its eyes flickering red. They had its attention.
Now the tower was slightly smaller in size, and the buildings were retreating figures on the horizon. The shapes of different Pokémon were slowly becoming clear figures as they advanced.
“All we have to do its keep it busy until Cassidy and the others get here!” Luke roared.
“Loud and clear, boss!” Brexio yelled back.
Shimshon skidded to a halt in front of the monster, staring directly up into his eyes.
“What are you doing?” Luke demanded.
The Glameow’s eyes glowed a bright pink, as he continued to stare it down. The monster’s steps slowed, and its eyes slowly morphed from red to match the pink of Shimshon’s eyes. Its figure drooped, and its eyes were half lidded. The surrounding Pokémon stared in awe at this amazing sight.
“Yeeee hawwwww! Y’all need a little help?” the Floatzel raced towards them. “I brought these fellas wit me.”
Behind him were a swoobat, reuniclus, sandshrew, weavile, and pancham. They looked powerful and in charge. Perhaps they were leaders of other organizations in this city? Behind those Pokémon were groups of even more Pokémon, ready to take down the statue. Shimshon broke his link with the colossal Pokémon, and it roared back to life, starting up its rampage once more. The surrounding Pokémon were ready for this challenge, and tensed up, each ready to attack when the giant left an opening.
