This is wonderful, I can't wait till I am on break then perhaps I can begin a few studies on my own. What types of brushes did you use for this?

The figure was mostly done with wide flat brushes, and I painted the hair & bg with large soft & toothy brushes. I usually just fall back on a squarebrush for long directional strokes (such as dress pleats etc). I dont think it matters too much- as long as you get the edges you want
