Description This is a Standard shot from my Nikon 5400 - information on the submission - tripod used - frame added.



This is a beautiful Lily species which has been in my garden for a few years now and hopefully remain there !

This submission has had some work done to it by to Irena I say many thanks !

I think the colour version is better - the flowers are so beautiful. I like the textures a lot more here. But again, around the petals the left over background is distracting.

Thanks Irena for commenting here - I posted it with the intention of re vamping the shot but never got around to do it - perhaps your crit will prompt me to do it

I tend to do the same - I plan to return and edit the image but somehow seldom manage to find time for that. And I know that darkening the background is tedious task. I usually zoom in all the way to pixel size so I could touch up as close to the flower as possible. You could prevent those patches by using softer brush.
Although it looks a lot better already. Thanks for taking the time to tweak it.

We have these growing in our garden and they have just finished finished flowering, and are slowly dying back.
Great shot, and the black background works so well with these flowers.

I like the colored one very much. The warm orange and gentle spring green support the love aspect of the title. Black and white loses the emotive component for me, but it did make me appreciate the shapes of the flowers in an abstract way.

These are the beetle resistant lilies!!!! I wish you much luck and success in keeping them so.
