Description Typical of modern and post-modern developments in armored warfare, the light tanks seem to fade away, replaced by heavily armed and armored but equally (if not, even more) fast Main Battle Tanks (MBTs) and the post-modern era saw a revival in up-gunned heavy and super-heavy tanks which were made much more possible by advanced construction methods and mechanized production, to serve as mobile fortress and provide an advantage when planetary forces are seemingly obviously outnumbered by an an enemy invasion armada. Light Tanks do survive however, though no longer having a permanent presence on the frontlines, serving roles as flankers, force-multipliers and mainly in the armored force of colonial militias of early-developing settlements where a proper planetary army has not been raised and Standard Equipment are rarely in their hands. Light Tanks are not only fast, but also cheap, simple to maintain and simple to use without fancy electronics and systems onboard. When Settlements advance to Cities, they may still keep pockets of their Light Tanks for use by the Militia, refurbished with new equipment and hardware, to reduce costs of rearming the entire local regular armies.

SLT-01 Zero Light Tank
-------------------------------------
Armed with a relatively simple 70mm Cannon and a few machine guns, the Zero Light Tank does not really pack a punch against armored units, but makes it up for its versatility in the field along with speed and decent armor, enabling it to serve many roles. By default, it has the ability to carry up to 8 passengers comfortably, making it a reliable troop transport as well as a tank in its own right. This passenger compartment can make way for other components to shape the Zero's mission objective, such as space for Increased Ammunition Storage, Mortars or a small missile MRLS. The Cannon and the turret can also be replaced with other weaponry such as more potent Railguns, Flak Cannons for AA capability and flamethrowers. Typical of light tanks, the Zero is cheap to make in large quantities given a settlement has the capability to maintain basic industrial assets and manufacturing facilities. Often, Zeros are reassigned to the Militia or even the police as the Regular Army is given more advanced Standard Equipment, refurbished with Multi-Spectra devices and rearmed with railguns or lascannons.

SLT-04 'Cody' Light Tank
----------------------------------
Functioning more like a medium tank, the Cody is a fast, agile and compact tank heavily armed with a 100mm Autocannon to crush armored units of the same class (or lower) and harass MBT companies through hit and run tactics. Though as cheap and decent as the Zero with more firepower and armor, the Cody tank does not sport the same level of versatility of the Zero; it has no troop-carrying ability and changing its weapons is harder as it is not as modular and adaptable as the Zero, which can simply do away with passenger seats for other purposes. When a settlement has the capability to repair and manufacture more advanced spare parts and has the basic factories and assembly lines ready, Cody Light Tanks can be shipped and used by their Colonial Militia. While Cities may do away with their light tanks in favor of rearming everything in the Regular Army with Standard Equipment, some choose to refurbish the Cody with better parts and weapons, to remain in service of the Militia and providing an armored punch to Mechanized Infantry and Light Armor battalions whenever they can.Β

Thanks mand

In space, we are kinda conservative (Hit and run, survival as first priority, small fleets made for hunting and moving around)

But on ground, we dont hold back (basically swarms of anything)

So light tanks does serve us very well, they are damn cheap and have good firepower even on its own....

just that their armor sucks ass

Looks cool, light tanks are awesome. Interesting how Singaporean designations have "Singapore" followed by whatever the vehicle/weapon is, like SSHP and SLH.

You should give them an ATGM launcher so it kills bigger tanks

Well here, the 'S' stands for 'Standard' to distinguish themselves from the more advanced light tank known as the Jockey.

They can be outfitted with them, yes.
