Description Many things are reveled to me in my dreams, meditations, and visions.
This one was shown to me in a dream.
My Wolverine Torek and helper came to show me The Man that lived With Wolverines.
This was one of those pieces that did not come out exactly as it was shown to me, yet it came out exactly the way it was shown to me.
This is the first time I ever painted Kaywah.
That man was very handsome- I bet you he didn't smell very good at all being of the Wolverine People, but he was very handsome with his animal face.

Not to be redistributed, copied, or used for outside use AT ALL by ANYONE.
I do not have to remind you poeple about the dangers of taking what does not belong to you- culture wise, and personally.
This image also contains the spirit of a Wolverine- and best not to make those people angry. They are not lenient or sympathetic at all.

Thank you so much! The Beauty of Canada is that we are multicultural- and that we can be exposed to these cultures! I wish to help that exposure grow with my art.

i agree, canada encourages multi-culturalisim in such a positive way, whereas in the states cultures are much more fragmented.growing up in winnipeg and calgary, ive often seen prejudice towards the native peoples, whereas now having lived in sweden for the past 12 years, there is a huge difference in how people see one as a first nations native.its funny how different cultures percieve ones own culture!for the most part the reaction has been very positive which is refreshing!peace!

Moth Winnipeg and Calgary are hot-spot of racism toward the Native community. Alberta has the highest population of Noe Nazis, as well as their "meeting" locals. Last I knew, the Swedish always were fond of the Natives- even here in Ontario, many of the Scandinavian that settled back in the 1800s always were fond of them, and their cultures have a lot it common. Ever think about coming back?

tarkheki In reply to ThunderBearStudios [2007-12-21 02:38:54 +0000 UTC]

No, I do not work with "Shamanism". That term is a poorly used New- Age concept. The word "Shaman" was derived form the Russians who live in the western part of their country (Asia) and the Mongolites. The term is "Medicine Man" or "Medicine Woman". Every culture has a name in their own tongue to say just that. There are many poeple who also dislike the term "Shaman" (who study the indigenous healing methods).

Wow. What I really like about this piece is how I can tell what everything is without needing a defined solid lineart. Especially when the two beings intersect.

tarkheki In reply to J-Cleo [2007-12-20 03:36:53 +0000 UTC]

That's the beauty of this kind of art. It's as if everything is spoken for, even when not defined.

Forget the dung, the actual animal itself leaves you with a pinch to the nose!

WindWhispers07 In reply to tarkheki [2007-11-19 19:37:25 +0000 UTC]

Yes, they are rather vicious XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tarkheki In reply to WindWhispers07 [2007-11-20 01:33:15 +0000 UTC]

Actually, on the contrair... every time I spot one, they just run up a tree or run away. Only if you corner them do they really roll on their backs and make a fuss. Unless they are really hungry, and you happen to be another animal, then yes they can be VERY vicious!

I love this piece, I feel you did a wonderful job at showing what the spirits showed to you.

I let the spirits work through me a great deal of the time, though I sometimes wonder if I do them justice.

This is wonderful.

tarkheki In reply to Ravenari [2007-11-13 03:12:19 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much!
I will honestly tell you this- so long as you speak the truth, and work form your heart, you will do them justice. So long as you keep on learning, and remain humble in your actions, you will do them justice!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tarkheki In reply to mialythila [2007-11-07 03:07:17 +0000 UTC]

Depending on what you mean by "Spirit quests". This term is used both in the culture, and also for a New age concept. It refers to two very different things.

In relation to what I have read above, I do not go out on the New Age concepts of "Spirit Quests" and have done a "Vision Quest" when I was younger. The images presented to me in my current state of life are as a result of my Medicine Trainings.

OOH okay, my best friend is studying Shaminism and I am interested in Shamanism as well. I don't think it is new age stuff.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tarkheki In reply to mialythila [2007-11-08 05:24:10 +0000 UTC]

Well, I think that the fact that the term "shaminisim" is used, it IS new age. "Shamans" is the Turik-Mongol (Siberian to Mongolia) term for their Medicine Men, in the Native Community, it's known as a Medicine Man or Medicine Woman, and every culture actually has a specific name in their own language for it.
