Interesting indeed! Is there a folkloric legend behind this pair of fowl?

Excellent, you truly are a master of the style and a tribute to the ancients that produced this work in their culture.

Wow, the turkey is especially beautiful!
A little-known fact from United States history:
Benjamin Franklin (credited as one of the "Founding Fathers") had opposed naming the bald eagle as the national bird, for he considered it a bird of "bad moral character...a rank coward." Franklin instead proposed that the national bird should be the turkey, pointing out that it was "a much more respectable bird, and withal a true original native of America...a bird of courage".

Hey Tark, how come a lot of Salish art pieces often have hidden faces?

Thank you! Doing a lot of Life Drawing really helps with the positive/negative identification. It's a lot of work, but well worth it! XD

Yeah, I've always been more of a "color" person as opposed to shapes... I've always wanted to try a pos/neg.

I didn't think I would see a nice depiction of a turkey. Especially in the same picture with a swan.

Sadly, a lot of Western principles are infused when selecting pieces for galleries and other industrial uses... so culturally, some of the animals get "lost" becuase they don't appeal to the other cultures.
