Yeeeeeeeeeeeeees. More Angel*Down. You have no idea how I live for updates on that. As amazing as you are with all yours works, and I'll support (and will eventually buy ALL YER STUFFS) you in everything you do, Weaponry just isn't my thing -- oh, how I wish it was. I still plan to buy it once I have some cash to spend, tho. A*D is my favourite that you're doing, tho. <3333

So I just spent the past 15 minutes writing up a response for you. Then my browser crashed for the 5th time in 40 minutes, and I had a lot said.
Basically, my long story short;
Weaponry contains themes (yaoi and pirates) that is very much popular amongst internet dwellers. Of course, I don't particularly like either of these things, but that's just me. Not to mention that Weaponry has had a lot of money and advertising backed into it. It has had the nurturing it needed to become great. Your being a great story teller and an amazing artist probably wasn't the only reason as to why you've had such a good run thus far with Weaponry. Yes, you have extremely well developed characters, and a good story line, but some of your success most likely comes from the fact that people just love yaoi and pirates, not to mention two popular themes combined. If it has been solely based on your talent and skill alone (which, don't get me wrong, you're all fucking kinds of amazing, and you deserve all your works to go in some kind of ... hall of fame for artists), then A*D would be just as popular.
As much of a hole in your pocket as it is, that's probably due to the fact that it doesn't follow a theme or genre preferred by a larger audience.
When I look at A*D, I see so much potential. It holds the gift to be a far deeper and meaningful story then Weaponry ever could be (not that Weaponry is flat or shallow, cuz it's not any of those things), but the fact of the matter is, people don't really look for stories like A*D; they don't want to venture outside of what they already know; they don't want anything new. Weaponry offers something most internet users (and females) are already comfortable with or see around a lot; the open seas and some gay lovin's.
A*D is going to probably continue to be the problem child, until people realize how great it can be, and already is. You need to try and keep releasing things for it, otherwise it's going to continue to be exactly that; a problem child. All problem children just want love and a little bit of affection and dedication to them, yunno? If you spend a little more time on it, and try to advertise/market it a bit more, and get the name out there, you might be surprised by the feedback that comes in on it. It's just going to take time because it appeals to a very specific kind of audience, as opposed to Weaponry, which can pretty much be loved by any gay-pirate loving fangirl/boy.
But that's just my opinion/feedback. I'm just hoping nothing I worded came off as being rude or doubtful of your abilities. Cuz that's now at all what I was trying to do/come off as. You're an amazing person, very talented, skilled, and many other things. Just ... yeah. Yunno what I'm getting at.
XP
SO YES.

Oh, I totally understand what you're saying! And I don't want you to think I was slagging off A*D. I DO love the project, and I get to say a lot of commentary that wouldn't have as strong a presence in a story like Weaponry. A*D is just one of those things that is very strict in its genre (apocalyptic religious/societal commentary). There's no aspect of humour, there's quite a strong presence of violence/gore/macabre themes, so it's a dark story. And most people need that much dark to be balanced with a bit of light - a la Weaponry, it has both halves of that coin. Weaponry has more of a plot, a complex narrative and a more dynamic cast, so I find it more engaging from the standpoint of a -story-; A*D is more thought-provoking and artistically stylized. They are very different projects, and I like them both for their own reasons, but in terms of business, A*D isn't as marketable. Because it is such a specific niche and because it doesn't really have any hooks other than 'pretty angels', there's not much cross-over outside of its initial readership.
That said, I do hope that having all of the comic projects hosted on the same site will encourage some cross-over. I know I have a few darkly-minded readers who are pulling for the darker outcomes in Weaponry that might enjoy a project like A*D, and there are those who despite not enjoying the material of Weaponry can still appreciate A*D.
The fact remains that Weaponry, because it's interactive has a readership that actually gives me any amount of feedback, and as a creator I get fired up by feedback. So not hearing from the few fans that A*D has, the importance of the project gets diminished in my ever-juggled list of To Do. I'll never abandon A*D, but it simply hasn't generated enough attention to be elevated to a permanent spot on my working roster. Granted I haven't yet created a 'hit' and I am not well-known enough in online communities to have the thousands of fans that it takes to really 'get a hit', so I'm still a long way off actually having a successful project, in the sense of pocketbooks. For now, everything I do is just building the foundation (and arsenal of work) that won't expire. Eventually I hope to carve out a space in the market, and then I'll have all of this work already done that people can enjoy with me. <3

And so it seems we're essentially on the same page, then - thought wise, at least.
Altho, I do give you props on making Weaponry interactive. That was kind of a cool idea. And, to be honest, I still read it, even if I don't like it as much as other works of your (I said I'd support you no matter what) and still participate when I catch something to participate in and with time left to still do so (totally voted for Gun ... ), so yunno. OH, AND, HEY. When can we see some more Ahdy stuffs? (Or just me ;n; IDK). I think it's been a while since I've seen a picture of him pop up in my deviant feeds.
