Well, I'm damn pleased with this one.Alright, everyone, be on guard, for this...is the Grey Hound.
Also known as Iago Brass, this is the youngest of the four children of the Dukedom Brass.
When he was a child, he was quite high-spirited, with a desire to join the army and fight for his country. As the years passed he became more and more of a bad seed, rebellion, contradictory and even violent. He got a taste for women and booze and in the end, defected from the life of a soldier to the life of mercenary.
Surprisingly he excelled at the latter. He was never predictably or commanding enough to lead any venture, but he was a tough man to have in the fight, and worked extremely well at tearing through opposing ranks, more than once breaching the enemy lines first. He's fast on the field, very fast. He had a nose for routing out trouble and opposition, and a fighting spirit enough to take down a bear. And as the colours of the Mercenary Brigade are grey, red and white, he gained the name of The Grey Hound.
He's fathered who knows how many illegitimate children, given a bad name to soldiers everywhere, and doubtless seeded himself into the nightmares of many men.
The Grey Hound: youngest of House Brass, little expected of him, and less achieved that is not in the arena of war and carnage, a brothel's purse, or a married woman's bed.

When I first saw this title, I originally though of the book I'm reading, for it has a character in it named 'The Hound'. I'm not sure if he does or not yet, though. XD

I heard that too. Only thing is, the series isn't even completed yet! The "A Dance With Dragons" book was due out in 2007 and has yet to be released, so it seems. Which makes me wonder if George just ... didn't release the last book, or died and nobody knows.

Well it turns out it's basically the second half of what's happening in the forth book. It's like ... what's happening in the east, and what's happening in the west type deal. Says it was too long to put it all into one book. Which ... makes sense. XD
But he's already picked a name for the book that comes out after that! The Winds of Winter. =O He's already got it all planned out. XD Such a wise man, George is.

If you're going to read any R. Scott Bakker, you've got to start with the Prince of Nothing trilogy. Otherwise the Aspect Emperor trilogy won't make much sense.

It's not that he and Brass don't get along...it's that Iago is a bit too coarse for Brass' liking, that Iago prefers not to be found/contacted/followed up on at the best of times, and that Iago is very much heterosexual, and does not approve of Brass' often flamboyant lifestyle.

Mn... Iago isn't evil, but he's not very good. and Brass isn't good, since he can be pretty mean. I don't think anyone in Terrene is so clear-cut.

I don't think so. i spent about an hour yesterday designing it. It's a Aether Chemical Chamber Blaster, or an A.C.C.B.
The three canisters on the holster are his "bullets" the gun shoots aether fire instead of projectiles.

ah yes! i think it's the chambers. I really like the cocept of chambers for steampunk tech of all sorts. In my steampunk world - Terrene - it's called aether technology, and a lot of it requires that sort of chemistry.

I'm excited to see your rendition of the Hoffer Brothers. This one has a looooot of details to mark out in colour, so I don't know how accurate a written description can make it, but:
eyes: green
hair: motley copper-blond
skin: pale cream
shirt: ivory white
pants: smoke-grey leather (same as his hair-tie)
Jacket: same smoke grey with blood red lining under the sleeves and on the shoulders, red trim, brass metal buttons
Belts/holster: white leather with brass trim and copper wiring, brass buckles,
bracer: red wool sleevelet with white leather bracer, brass plates and watch
details: red leather ties on his pants, shirt sleeves and necklace cord, and hair-tie; pewter hound necklace, white leather panels on his shulders with brass stars and the Mercenary Brigade decal stitched-on patches, pewter decal on his holster, mahogany and brass hilt to his A.C.C.B., with amber glass chemical chamber and green glass canisters, white leather grip and brass fittings.
I think that's everything!
