Description Another Terragen Render. Not happy with the snow, nor the size of the sun, nor the reflections in the water. Should have rendered a small image before I spent 9 hours waiting for this one. Oh well....may redo it later.

9 hours? wow, good render overall though, id just raise the snow up a bit, but i like it, it really pulls your eye around the image nicely

At the time 9 hours seemed a long time. But now I've done much longer ones.

Great render... love the realism, especially the reflection on the water.

oooooooooooooooh

The only thing I can recommend is adding trees or rocks or something along the base of the mountain. If you make closer rocks larger and farther rocks smaller you can enhance the sense that it's a really tall mountain. The light on the water's perfect though

We are all ergerly awaiting terragen 2 so we can add trees and rocks and volumetric clouds and all kinds of other amazing stuff.

Terragen is the software that creates these I assume?

'm sorry you're not happy with it. I think it's gorgeous! I especially like the placement of the sun- even if you it's not the size you were hoping. That really makes the photo for me! Breathtaking!

i think that you're very good with the terrain but i guess the surface just kind of mismatched a little.

overall, it's an amazing piece of work! i think the 9-hr render time payed off just fine. ha ha!

Option's option's Option's

Look's great to me sun's a little heavy and a little srf work is needed that time is a killer but H2o will do it all the time
My :twocent: Not sure if it will help but changing the default buffer to a lower # has accelerated my render time's .

srf work

Maybe you can tell me why [link] that took over a day. And I'd have thought raising the default would lower render time....haven't played with either but i will thanks!!!

Surface color's texture's
Nice link as for the reason for so long I can only speculate A high atmosphere cant see any indication of land and I think the atmospheic haze was set pretty high .
As for buffer rate default terragen is 64 i've lowerd mine to 8 and most of my renders are the 2048x1536 and my render time's average .45> 4 hr's but they were in the 17-24hr range before

For that one, I rendered the sky and land sepearately, then put them together in photoshop. So that was the sky bit. But over now and probably won't be doing that again.

DistortedTruth [2006-04-06 00:03:25 +0000 UTC]

okay...about the realism...for one...there wuldnt be snow on mountains with sand right below it...thats just not possible, . Next, on the right side, it looks like the sand surface is floating in mid air...which is 1. annoying and 2. non-realistic. The water looks great and the reflections are fine. Now you need to start messing with the Transparancy Dist. option under Sub-Surface. The atmo is decent and the terrain is pretty good. Other than all that....looks pretty good. Just work on your surfaces more
