Description
Prince Nuada from "Hellboy - The golden army".I may be glorifying him a bit in this drawing
but even though Nuada did a lot of horrid things, I always saw him more of a hero than a evil villain...I had an idea of how this drawing would look when I started, and just went with the flow. I wanted to create a more dramatic piece, and I also wanted the look in Nuada`s eyes to reflect hatred and sadness.
The ones who has seen the movie will hopefully understand the symbolism I added to this piece. The plants/bushes, half dying tree, falling leaves, the dark, dirty (human) city...

If you look at it from Nuada's POV, he is the hero of his people. I found it hard to accept him as a villain completely. I found it hard, that is, until I saw him hurt the one person I thought he loved more than life itself, incest be praised or damned. You know who I'm talking about, and I see both of them as victims of humanity's mistakes. Though their people are at fault for massive destruction in the past, it's the humans who are the offending party now; 'This planet is ours, and it is angry with what we are doing to it! I will do everything in my power to make sure I can be part of the solution.' is my mantra when it comes to environmental issues, and I think Nuada's is similar.

I love the symbolism in how the city smog flows towards the trees, sucking the life out of the plants (and soon us).

When I let him out it'll be for me watching him workout, seeing how his muscles will ripple, watching the sweat glisten on his upper torso...as it trickles downs his awe-so-inspiring stomach...um, what was I saying? Oh yeah! Nope! All mine. But I could be open to let him pose for you again. Only when I'm in the room. Am I possessive much? Heh heh.

This is one of my favourite movies, and I love how you depicted Prince Nuada. He did to a lot of awful stuff, but he had his people's best interests in mind, so I think it's very appropriate for him to be presented in a 'troubled hero' sort of way.
Great job! The shading is marvelous, as is your rendering of different textures

Agreed, it`s truly an awesome movie! I`m quite blown away with the make up/ costumes, settings and of course the story. Mhm, aside from the fact that he want`s to eliminate all human life on earth, what he did for his people (and the planet) was very.. uhm..admirable!

WOA!!!!! Now that's what I'm talking about. Really Beautiful rendering and I love how you show the Industrial Hell of the modern world in the background slowly choking whats left of the old world. The sadness in his eyes is very well done along w. everything else in this piece. Looking at this makes me want to watch it again.

I really enjoy working on stuff when I`m super inspired and can just go with the flow. I started sketching his pose first, and ended up with this
Mhm, a part of me wanted to place him in a wonderful unharmed forest with twinkling lights, crooked happy trees and beautiful elven tree-houses, but that wouldn`t be very effective as for reactions
That`s correct! This is what I was working on. The most time consuming part was the bushes (so hard to draw for some reason!), and the staff. You can`t really see the details on it here, but I was really trying to nail the pattern on it using the smallest mechanical pencil!

Oh he was a very cool character for sure! I was also extremely impressed by the Wink costume! He was so huge and so well done! I also really liked the Chamberlain, and the Angel of Death was epic
