What I've started recommending to people is to set a budget, and to work within that. There are amazing things you can do even with just a little bit of money - instead of investing in stuff like modeling clay, ultra-cal 30, and pints of slush latex, get a cheap latex mask off of ebay and add to it with tissue or toilet paper and liquid latex. It might be wise to start off this way, especially if it's something you've never done before, you don't have a lot of money and you don't know if you want to 'get into it.' Plus you can make super awesome stuff without sculpting, molding and casting.
So with that in mind, here I broke down the cost of my first latex headpiece. A lot of the stuff I bought for making my Liara Headpiece I used later for my Ryuk mask and for other projects.

I sculpted Ryuks head first in plasticine, then made a mold of that with Ultra Cal 30. The final mask was then casted using latex!

Ha! Out of curiosity, which one is most prominent? Donnie Darko Leia, Blue Asari Leia or just a regular ol' Leia? Kinda hoping it's the Frank one, just because that's more to my design esthetic and it surely must mess with some people's heads.
