Why yes, that IS a real giant wooden spoon!She's not evil or mean, just...very, very, very ugly. Based on my version of the character 'Tatterhood' from a viking-age illustrated story I'm "working" on.
Made a lot of stuff for this costume - latex prosthetic nose, gelatin zits, all the clothing (including shoes, belt and bag) except for the leg wraps! (also commissioned the spoon). Bigger, better photos in a few weeks!

Ooh, it looks great. I like the round nose and the outfit with ragged parts. And the spoon! Hmm, is there some legend I don't know about wooden spoons? A few days ago there was this [link] in the DD, and now a huge spoon again...

Hmm I wonder just how big that little guy's spoon is (aren't gnomes rather tiny? His spoon might be the size of one of my regular spoons!).

I am hoping to get some "real" photos on Halloween - going to try to replicate your drawing! (but might have to switch out the giant boulder for a tree stump

$1000 first place, $300 2nd, sewing machine "third." I'm pretttty sure that I'm not going to win, (there are very awesome costumes entered + being towards the end of +250 entries doesn't help) but hey, worth a shot, right?
