Tattered-Dreams In reply to ??? [2016-06-24 18:18:39 +0000 UTC]
Eeee, thank you
To be fair, I understand why people may age up their dogs quickly in RP - there's so many reasons. Some people just aren't comfortable drawing puppies before they've grown into their bodies; some people have specialities or showing interests that don't allow young dogs, and in the end, DARPG is about what you want to draw.
That said, much as I won't fuss if someone wants to immediately age up their dog, its something I personally don't like. As you say, puppyhood is an important stage, longer for some breeds than others, and it really does get glossed over in RP. Six - the mom - I got last year and she was only aged up to 2 about a month ago, but she has a collection of puppy pictures, and it was always my plan for her first litter to really get as natural a start as possible - whelping, and then a few images of their first weeks before they get a litter sheet to be sold. I adore drawing puppies (much as I need to improve) but mainly because I want them to be characters when they're sold, not just another design for someone to hoard
Anyway, shutting up Thank you for the lovely comment! As for reserves, I'm not taking any of those, but when they're old enough to go to new homes, all the info on how to apply on the ones I can bear to part with will be posted for those interested ^^

(Sorry, this got way long...)I think, especially with TKC on dA, they're very focused on competition - hence the titles and such. You can show a puppy in some conformation events, so long as its between the right ages, but there's really not a lot out there for them if you want your art to qualify for something. There's the TKC puppy classes and a few other things, but not a lot, so if you want to draw your dog doing something that you can also put towards their skills/experience/whatever, the dog has to be old enough by TKC ruling to be able to hunt, dock dive, do agility or whatever else.
I agree with you; that puppyhood is a hugely important stage, and I also think its nice to do art of your dogs just for the sake of doing art - not to gain xp or anything, but just to draw them and say 'hey, look, he's snoozing on the sofa today'. But for a lot of people, they want their art to count towards something - and that's okay too. Its a game that is meant to be played in the way each individual wants.
And also, unlike with HARPG, there doesn't seem to be an actual governing body of DARPG. Many people sign up with TKC, but you can be a part of DARPG without following TKC rules. So there really isn't a rulebook as such for the game as a whole, even if that one group tend to stick to realism when it comes to titles, showing and breeding. But that's their group; they give you guidelines for shows that want to function under their rules, but no one is bound to do it. Similarly, some breeds may have rules about keeping puppies young for a real life week/month, but that's just for that breed. And much as I think its nice to see people draw their puppies and explore those first months, I'm also not going to be the person who tells someone that they can't age up their dog immediately if they want to, whatever their reason is. Its their choice and there's no rule that says they can't I dropped art in school because the teacher was always telling me to draw things I didn't have any interest in, and it made the class annoying and stressful. I'm a firm believer that, yes, its good to expand horizons and try new things, but you should want to do that yourself, when you're ready, not feel you have to, or it takes the fun out, and everyone is here to have fun
But yep, personally, I'm in it for the characters, just as much as lovely designs. Character is important to me, definitely ^^ And exactly; their personalities are forming steadily each time I doodle them (or even just imagine what they're getting up to )
Haha, yeah, I'm struggling. The more I draw them, the more I want to keep XD. Definitely keep an eye out for the final decisions!

(its fine i dont mind at all hehe) THat is true and i agree, but not many people get them puppy titles or show their dogs in puppy stage but that is all to people's preferences like u mentioned.
There used to be the "doing art for the sake of it" but it seemed to gotten lost, me myself i love giving all of my dogs their own story, the best example is my boyΒ fav.me/d8150xl and it stopped because i did not update the journal but there is more to it. but its a game and everyone can choose the way to play it^
Agreed, and yeah its true you cant go telling people what to do with the puppies they adopt from you but you can always choose who is the best kennel to give them to unless once sold is sold for you. ofcourse we are here to have fun, and like i say i have times when i want to draw fluffy dogs or non fluffy dogs or out of the sudden i want to add a new story with other breeds that i know i wont be focus of but just because i want to and its fun and keeps the feel of it.
same here! im glad im not the only one ehehe
I definately will!!

Ah they're too cute!! I love the look on Six's face, maybe the happiest I've ever seen her, haha. Motherhood suits her well, and I love how you draw puppies. I'm slightly envious about the white....but I have my own plan to breed one so I just need to remind myself to be patient. The little liver with white on his belly is my second fav. Can't wait to see the next few pics, I love the idea of getting to see them age rather than just posting the litter sheet.

Eeeeeeh Thank you! Yeah, Six does look quite contented with them all, huh? ^^
Haha, I didn't expect a white (probably should have figured it was at least possible, since Six carries it, but there you are) that one was a nice surprise (Good luck breeding your own, though!) and yes, I have a bit of a soft spot for that one, but its hardly saying anything; I adore them all a bit much XD
And I'm glad you like the idea of seeing them develop a little before the litter sheet. I've not seen it done and I wasn't too sure how it would go down, but its something I've wanted to do from the start - just more natural and true to life, I think, and hopefully get people following them along a bit before they're ready for homes ^^

I'm so glad that came across
And haha, yes, I've noticed a few people interested Those poor people just hovering by their computers in wait XD But at least that means they should all find good homes pretty easily ^^
Same here, though - I just want to draw them as a litter for a little bit and enjoy them growing up before I have to think about letting any go (sad, sad day). And I think it's 'throw in the towel' but hat works too. Cooler, really XD. I get what you mean; sometimes, no matter how adorable, you just have to be good and say no. (and yeah, I'm almost certainly keeping the white, and its looking like I'll hang onto one of the abstracts, too). Good luck sticking to your guns

Thank you!!
And wow, I had no idea my art had that kind of sway XD if it looks like something your interested in, definitely do it! Everything is at your own pace and there's all kinds of skill levels so everyone can just have fun with it. If you create your own dogs from existing, real world breeds, no one can tell you what to do, or how often to do it (some created breeds have rules, though). And if you're totally new to it, the TKC group has lots of info on how to play, but for a more condensed crash course, you can check out Nev's one on the Wiltshire-Spaniel home page
Whether you decide to or not, thanks for the comment and its wonderful to know my work is tempting you to it ^^

You should totally make a tag sheet for your litters!
I would be on that biz soooo fast!

A tag sheet is for people who really like your stuff
You just put this in each litter, import or "adoptable" submission;
Tag List
:dev(Insert username) :
It basically just notifys whoever is in your tag list whenever you post something they can buy/adopt

Tattered-Dreams In reply to HYNMYART [2016-06-24 20:52:20 +0000 UTC]
Oh! I see - thanks for that!
Yeah, I've never done something like that, mainly because I've never been in a position where it would be warranted. I've only done a few dog/cat adoptables before, and a handful of horses (no pedigree, character or game relevance, just designs). This is the first litter I've ever bred in DARPG, and I'm not really planning to become a huge breeder in the game.
I'm not sure its something I'll do. In some ways I think its more fair if I just post litters and people find them when they find them, rather than having a handful of people who get a heads up. But I'll see how I go. If I decide to, I'll post something so people can sign up, and you're welcome to remind me to put your name on then ^^
