I have a hard time trying to have Lucid Dreams. I've had them before, and they're awesome, but they only ever occur on accident.
I have a dream journal, but writing in it is still a habit I need to keep up.
I've tried doing reality checks, but I could breath underwater (and many other crazy things) in my dreams before even considering the possibility of dreaming.
I've once heard of looking in a mirror or at myself. The only times I recall ever looking in a mirror or at myself is when I was transforming into something else. In those dreams, everything was as realistic looking as everything is in real life (and only one transformation dream has ever brought lucidity).
Looking for common dream symbols is even hard. The only pattern I see is that every dream has something that would normally never happen in real life.
