Just in case: this is not TF art. There.This is sooo not her. Or maybe it is.
I guess if I can't tell if it is her, or not, then it must be her.
Because that's how she is. Confusing.
This is Jinjing-Yu.
And this is that mischievous smile of hers.

Hey, this piece has a companion piece now, woo!
I just felt like making a portrait of her, where she would be all unusually classy and whatnot.
Aaaand I learned that making portraits is an ultimately alien art for me; IT WAS BLOODY HARD.
I didn't really know what I was doing, and the framing went through FIVE revisions.
And I made the cardinal error of having part of the subject touch an edge.
I JUST COULDN'T FRAME HER HUGE EARS PROPERLY, OKAY?
So it was either that, or bad composition.
I only wish I'd made that tiger lily a permanent element of her- umm...
That I had made it... her outfit... Hmmm.
From the beginning, that is.
Her eyes here almost remind me of Fluttershy.
Anyway, there's also a version riddled with light leaks , and I couldn't decide which one I liked more.

not big fan of that hair sim. and strong SSS(?) from deep inside the nose, but otherwise this is beautiful picture, the character, expression, pose composition and colors are really nice.

Hah, you've just mentioned the two things I never liked about this piece! I was never happy with the results mental ray produced on hair. Luckily, I migrated to VRay recently, and now hair looks like hair, though it's still not perfect.

I've been working on the character for about six months, but the picture in itself took just three days (a few hours each) to make.

It stands for transformation (people transforming into... things; like werewolves). I had an unpleasant run-in with people who thought I'm a TF artist, so I always put that information there. And let me tell you, I am severely not fond of TFs.

I think I like the non-light-leak version better. The light leak is kinda distracting and doesn't really fit the mood of the picture.
Personally, I think the ear touching the edge of the image doesn't take too much away from it, actually. The light background color contrasted with the brown tones of her skin and the whiteness of her fur means that the first thing seen by the eye is the face, hands, and body (her eye especially was the first thing my eyes went to--the combination of its placement in the picture and the spot around her eye just draws the viewer's focus right to it). I only really noticed the ear fur going off the edge because you pointed it out in the description.
Overall, I think you did a great job capturing that "classy portrait" style!

I am really glad the composition works so well, and not just on me.
Recently I've been trying to improve ESPECIALLY in compositions, so it's good to know I'm making progress.
