Also, you weird fuck, you were inside my dream last night, yapping about how Hollow-point bullets are the way to go when shooting people, since you want to cause maximum harm rather than simply killing. You had a gasmask on, of course, since I don't know what you look like. Then we shot people in some kind of airsoft-like arena.

Fuck yeah, hollow points! But good only against non-protected targets, if you plan to shoot at people in vests, hollow-points are a bad choice)

I never understood this kind of face-plate design that got popular as of late. It makes you look like a humanoid hammer or mallet. Is that the point? Making the opponent think you're going to headbutt him into submission?

could be an access for the settings. Be able to take the plate out and access memory cores or upgrade hardware maybe.

well if you have access to high quality sensors and HUDs, it makes total sense. the sensory organs are most fragile, imoortant and exposed, so shielding them as good as possible in battle makes sense.
Take a look at medieval helmets, they tried to maximize plating and minimize visor slits for that exact reason, so you dont get splintered wood, arrows and daggers near you eyes, nose, etc.

Yeah, but wouldn't a force that has all that high end gear also have sophisticated enough materials that do not require two kilos of steel on your face? And if it's actually a good, thin awesomite alloy involved, why are HUDs and sensors the size of a camcorder from the '90s? Why did tech take a backward turn? And now I'm rambling without knowing if this meant to be semi-realistic or rule-of-cool inpired.
Well, as time went on and better materials came into use, armour was getting thinner and lighter because you didn't need as much plating as with shittier types of steel. And sometimes, too much protection impeded your sense of vision through creating blind spots. But a helmet with a camera certainly doesn't have such problems.

Carbon fiber/kevlar mix gives a super formable lightweight plate, not as strong as steel, but it doesn't get cold like steel does. Steel plates in your head would dump body heat into the air pretty bad.
