Through a mutual acquaintance, Faolan has been asked by Fidelo Lonars, the head of the Traders' Guild, to a favour for him in exchange for the assasination of his parents a request. He has been asked to steal a dangerous book from Delverne. This book has magical wards that allow only a high-level familiar to touch it (or a Conjurer using such a familiar in partial transformation), and is jealously guarded in the private collection of a prestigious Delvan library.

These events actually took place a couple of days after the ignition event, but it took me ridiculous amounts of time to complete because my brain made me go mental with practically all the panels.

Fidelo was kind enough to have spies locate the private section and the key pieces that opens it, and write down the information so that it would ease Faolan's job, but nobody expected the spanish inquisition honey trap spheres. He probably got his foot back again after a couple of hours/days when a capable sage had been called. Next time, you don't just stick your foot into something you don't know what is.

My headcanon is that light elves pack their secrets with tons of puzzles and obstacles, but never apply any alarm system because they think they are too smart for anyone to succeed breaking them.

Other Delverne headcanons:
It never gets completely dark in the city.
Foliage bridges.
Buildings stand tall to get closer to Aurea (gothic + ancient rome combo)
The tree that grows on the stairs is gathering point for leisure, philosophic and religious debate.
The library has a roof garden for people to sit in peace and read.
