I do have to love how he says it, though. He seems amused and almost endeared by Rask and his curiosity. His face can get so stern, but so kind at times, too. I'm happy we're getting to see more of Oren : D

Those are almost certainly copper. Gold is useless for weapons.

Gold, silver, mercury, copper, iron, and tin were known and used for time out of mind. If they aren't pure copper they're most likely bronze (or possibly brass). This would be fitting for the start of a Bronze Age culture.
I'm curious if religion will be introduced.

There’s long spiritual symbolism in copper and bronze.
1 Corinthians 13:12 is usually misunderstood these days because the most commonly available type of mirror was a polished bronze plate. It’s an odd quirk of copper that it makes everything it reflects look darker even as it shines brightly itself.
