This photo was taken on her last day.
I'll spare the few others we took, too sad.
This one really is the best one, and for me, especially looking back on it, it sort of brings me a comfort, because, she actually looks focused on me/the camera...

It was, for me, like she was telling me:
It really is okay mom, I am so tired to struggle and go on anymore...

It was so terribly hard, and feelings SO mixed, but I am glad I listened, especially when I see her face here.

Canela, my first ever pet as an adult on my own. She was found in less than good condition roaming the streets at approx. one year old.

Canela's health has been pretty poor for just over a year, but we've been trying desperately to improve it with the vet's help and especially since the very beginning of Spring when it turned for the worse.

It's been a long difficult Summer, finally in the last couple weeks, none of us could stand it any longer as things took another turn...
Saturday, Sept. 5, '09 we made a most extraordinarily difficult decision... but in our utter despair and depression, we know she is not in pain and suffering anymore.

It's just we sorely miss her, and will for so long.
I've never had a loyal companion as long as 13.5 years before.
She was 14 years and 4 months old.
